Westview Elementary was the first new elementary building built in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District after it was reorganized in 1949. Westview was built in 1956 and was scheduled to open for the start of the 1956-1957 school year. However, a steel strike in 1956 delayed the opening of this new elementary school. The students and teachers started the school year at Lee’s Summit Elementary and in March of 1957 the students and teachers moved to their new building and opened the doors of Westview Elementary for the first time to our Lee’s Summit families.
Westview has developed a long and proud tradition of preparing our students for their next level of education. As the community built around this neighborhood elementary the focus of helping each student to reach their full potential continues to be the guiding force that has made Westview Elementary a wonderful place for our students to learn.
Your Westview staff welcomes you to our family and looks forward to working with your children.
